For more than 30 years Carol has been a mathematics educator for preschool through to college levels. She was Editor of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics publication
Student Math Notes, and was on the editorial board of the
New England Mathematics Journal. She is the author of two World’s Largest Math Events,
Math Olympics and
Mathematics: The Language of the Universe. Carol was a member and chairman of the Question Writing Team for the Mathcounts Competition and head of the writing team for the Figure This! national campaign in the USA to promote mathematics education reform. She was also a consultant, teacher, and/or curriculum developer for two WGBH Annenberg Professional Development series videos,
Learning Math and
Teaching Math. Carol is co-author of many books, including the Pre-K to Grade 2
Navigations series for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics and the 35-book
Groundworks series. She is a frequent speaker at national conferences and has worked with elementary, middle, and high school teachers from New England to California. Carol was recently inducted into the Massachusetts Hall of Fame for Mathematics Educators.
