Build 1st Grade Math Vocabulary Using the Following Titles
My students greatly enjoy the ORIGO Big Books. One of our favorites is “Ten Happy Hens.” The students enjoyed reading along with me and calling out how many were left. We also said the number sentences as we read. The students used subitizing to find out how many hens were left. We also made a class book of our own “Eighteen Happy Hens.” Each student changed the numbers used and what the hens were doing. I love using reading to introduce and reinforce math topics!!
