Ideas for home
- Have your child share expressions to match some real-life problems. For example, if they earn $10 each week, but only save $4 per week. What would their total savings be for any number of weeks? The expression they could share is s(10 − 4).
- Look for real-world situations involving independent and dependent variables, and discuss them with your child. For example, an employee is paid by the hour, the amount of money earned depends on the hours worked. Or, a recipe requires a certain amount of milk. That amount depends on the number of batches you are making.
