Description: Research indicates a relationship between students’ experiences with number lines and their mathematical achievement. In this session for K–2 educators, participants will explore the progression from number tracks to number lines and engage in games and activities to support all students will deep understanding of mathematical concepts.

Description: The word “mistake often pushes teachers automatically into deficit thinking. Borrowing the idea of miscues from the literacy world allows teachers to change lenses, taking an inquiry-and-asset–based view of assessment. Considering multiple systems for mathematical thinking, teachers can create opportunities to advance learning through strengths.
