The winners are:

Erin Switzer, a Special Education teacher at Texico Municipal Schools in Texico, NM

“Erin’s commitment to her students’ success is truly commendable. She goes above and beyond to ensure that every student in her classroom receives the highest quality education. Erin skillfully differentiates her instruction to meet the diverse needs of her students, including ESL learners, special education students, and gifted learners. Her ability to utilize available resources effectively and tailor her teaching methods to individual students’ needs is truly remarkable.”

Marcia Wheeler, a Math Coach at Marion City Schools in Marion, OH

“Marcia is considered by her colleagues as the ultimate team player who has a passion for math education. She models best practices in the classroom by volunteering to co-teach with our teachers and lead professional development for the school district. Another characteristic that stands out about Marcia is that she is a lifelong learner who strives to improve daily.”

Jamie Owen, a Interventionist at Bozrah Schools in Bozrah, CT

“Jamie eats, sleeps, and breathes math. As a veteran teacher, she has gone back to get additional math certifications and professional learning to bring the best strategies and opportunities to our students and faculty.”

Jordan Wendzel, a Interventionist at Orondo School District in Orondo, WA

Candice Granville, a Teacher in Chicago, IL

“We are proud to have Candice on our faculty because she has been working tirelessly to improve her students learning and academic growth. She develops strong relationship with her students and their families, and is very intentional in analyzing data and planning effective whole and small group instruction.”

Lisa Schmidt, a Interventionist at Aurora Public Schools in Aurora, CO

“Winning this award will support this classroom because we are a Schoolwide Title I school. We  serve a high needs population of students and families where the majority are multilingual, and learning English. We use data to accelerate learning and to drive rigorous instruction. Our goal is to increase math proficiency by 20% this year. With this resource- we can get there.”

Judy Massiah, a Teacher at Walter Francis White School in Brooklyn, NY

“Our school is an underserved community in New York City, where unemployment is high, and the landscape is dotted with homeless shelters.  PS 41, is a beacon of hope for our elementary school students and their families. Though the school is ranked last in the district in mathematics, our new principals vision is one of rising to the challenge of moving PS 41 from its current position on the scale to one of overtaking the top schools in the district”

The ORIGO Classroom Grant program has brought to light the incredible passion and commitment of educators across the nation. We extend our heartfelt congratulations to the six winners and express our gratitude to all the educators who participated in the program.

Stay tuned for updates on their inspiring journeys and the timing for the next round of grant applications in 2024!
